Designers and manufacturers are constantly challenged to obtain better production yields. However, due to the complexity of manufacturing, it is difficult to create and maintain reliable manufacturing processes. Many devices use expensive machined components; require highly skilled labor using a microscope; and require complex secondary operations for assembly. These methods of manufacturing place limitations on size, complexity, material selection, production yields, and profitability.
